Broomer: On-Demand House Cleaning Marketplace

A single-page web application that helps clients find and book nearby house-cleaning services, while giving cleaners a platform to accept jobs.

Highlights

  • Built the client-facing dashboard, account profile, and order management screens.
  • Added route guards to stop unauthenticated users from reaching protected pages.
  • Worked closely with UI/UX designers on usability testing and implementation details.

Context

Broomer connects clients who need house-cleaning services with nearby cleaners, giving each side a purpose-built view: clients book and track jobs, cleaners accept and manage them.

Role and scope

Vincent was one of three frontend developers in a team of six, building the application with React and Material UI, and helped the tech lead construct the initial front-end structure.

He implemented the client-facing section, including the activity dashboard, account profile and settings, and order management.

Technical decisions

Route guards protected authenticated pages from unauthenticated access, and the app was built to work closely with UI/UX designers through user testing and iteration.

Engineering range

The app was deployed to AWS S3 with CloudFront, a small end-to-end example of shipping a working product from frontend build to cloud hosting.
